Mandevilla is a genus of tropical and subtropical flowering vines belonging to the family Apocynaceae. It was first described as a genus in 1840. A common name is rocktrumpet. Mandevilla species are native to the Southwestern United States, Mexico, Central America, the West Indies, and South America.
The Mandevilla vine creeper has become a common patio plant, and rightfully so. The brilliant Mandevilla flowers add a tropical flair to any landscape. The very showy flowers have white and gold throats and are up to 10 cm across and arranged in racemes.
Mandevilla vines need full sun in order to flower well. They can tolerate partial shade, however. In order to get the best mandevilla flowers throughout the summer, give your mandevilla plant a high phosphorus, water soluble fertilizer once every two weeks. This will keep your mandevilla vine blooming wonderfully.
